RACE 1 –  CLUB PACEWAY PACE – 1720 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from SO JACK and MASTERCHIEF

SO JACK which led the event, commenced to weaken leaving the 600 metres resulting in VIENNA GIRL and PRUDENT MASTER being inconvenienced. When questioned driver D Morris explained that he was instructed to lead. However, the gelding did not travel as well as expected and he released the deafeners near the 700 metres but the gelding did not respond. Trainer D Waite explained that he was slightly disappointed but was of the opinion the early pressure applied by MASTERCHIEF may have been detrimental and, with the benefit of hindsight, SO JACK would have been better suited surrendering the lead in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination of SO JACK revealed a poor post-race recovery. Trainer D Waite was advised that SO JACK must complete one official trial prior to resuming racing.

OUR BUSHWACKER was unable to secure clear running until obtaining a run to the inside of MASTERCHIEF which shifted out slightly near the 100 metres. Driver J Bryant (MASTERCHIEF) was advised to exercise more care and diligence in similar circumstances.

BRAZILIAN ROCKER was unable to secure clear running in the home straight and was not fully tested.

Post-race swab samples were taken from LUCKY LEIGH

RACE 2 – THE VILLAGE DRY CLEANERS PACE – 1720 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from THREE MUGS IN and NOVAK

RED CASTLE VIK underwent a veterinary examination pre and post-race as per HRNSW policy and no obvious abnormalities were detected.

THREE MUGS IN was slow to begin.

Approaching the 1500 metres NOVAK laid in which placed CLEMENTSORRELL in restricted room and as a result SIMPLY CLEVER NZ was tightened. Then as these runners progressed, COURAGEOUS ATOM which was improving past NOVAK, hung in despite the efforts of its driver and took NOVAK further down the track resulting in NOVAK contacting CLEMENTSORRELL. As a result CLEMENTSORRELL was checked and raced roughly. At a subsequent inquiry, after careful consideration of all available evidence, no one particular horse or driver were found blameworthy to the extent that required action to be taken.

GOT THE SCOOP and SIMPLY CLEVER NZ were unable to secure clear running in the home straight and were not fully tested.

Post-race swab samples were taken from CAPTAINS CALL

RACE 3 – SKY RACING PACE – 2125 metres

Pre-race blood samples were taken from URBAN GIRL and MAJOR STEPPE NZ

MAJOR STEPPE NZ was inclined overrace and when the tempo quickened near the 600 metres, sustained a flat tyre as PUNTER DELIGHT contacted its off side wheel when shifting out three wide in an attempt to improve. N Xuerub (PUNTERS DELIGHT) was advised to exercise care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

RACE 4 – TAB PACE – 1720 metres

Pre-race blood samples were taken from BRACKEN SKY and EVERYTHING HAPPENS

Passing the 150 metres, PAY ME OVERS contacted a marker peg and raced roughly. PAY ME OVERS was then unable to secure clear running in the home straight ad was not fully tested.

SCOTLYNN JIGGS NZ was unable to secure clear running in the home straight and was not fully tested.

Post-race swab samples were taken from THE TIMES A CHANGING

Subsequent to Race 4 wet weather prevailed and the mobile barrier was tested. The senior starter reported that the mobile barrier was unsafe to use. The officials and participants were consulted. The decision was made to retest the mobile barrier at 8.35pm. After the second test the starter reported the mobile barrier had failed on a second occasion. Subsequently, after further consultation, the remainder of the race meeting was abandoned due to the inclement weather and, state of the track.
