GENERAL

The following trainers were fined $50 under Rule 273(6)(b) for failing to have the gear forms for their respective runners accurately recorded;

Race 1 – D Hancock – GARLAND GREENE

Race 4 – S&L Tritton – COURAGE LIPS

The following trainers were reprimanded under rule 273(6)(b) for failing to have the gear forms for their respective runners accurately recorded;

Race 1 – T Sutton – YANKEE DIAMOND

Race 2 – M Lefoe – IMFEELINGIT

Race 7 – K Hayes – POCKET OF TERROR

Race 7 – C Cross – DIVINE STATE

RACE 1 – AINSWORTH GAME TECHNOLOGY TROTTERS MOBILE – 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from SONETTO.

MAORI QUEEN was caught wide during the early stages until being restrained to the rear of the field passing the 1200 metres.

MAORI QUEEN had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.

Driver T Butt (REIGN ON ME NZ) explained that his mare didn’t feel safe in her gait rounding the final turn when the pace quickened and in the home straight he was unable to fully test his drive due to his mare trotting roughly. Mr Butt stated that he would expect improvement from the run and would instruct the trainer to adjust shoeing to assist the mare’s gait. Stewards noted his comments.

SCENIC SKY cast its off hind plate in the home straight.

MAORI QUEEN and REIGN ON ME NZ will both be re-included into the mobile barrier draw.

RACE 2 – GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND PACE - 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from IMFEELINGIT.

SHARK OF WHITBY was examined by the on course veterinary prior to and following the running of race 2 as the gelding has not races in the previous 12 months. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.

SEDSO (barrier 2) broke gait on two occasions during the score up and was out of positon at the start. In view of the gelding’s recent record, a warning was issued. It was noted that SEDSO regained its position at the rear of the field passing the 1000 metres.

STAR MAJOR improved three wide near the 950 metres until working forward to obtain the positon outside the leader near the 800 metres.

WATS YOUR POISON altered course near the 150 metres to obtain clear running.

RACE 3 – FARMER JOES CHICKENS TROTTERS MOBILE - 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from BACARDI HURRICANE.

THE GOD BOTHERER NZ (Barrier 11) broke gait shortly after the start. The gelding will continue to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

Passing the 1100 metres, THE GOD BOTHERER NZ broke gait when tailed back from the field and galloped excessively. In view of the gelding’s recent record, THE GOD BOTHERER NZ will now be stood down from racing until it completes one requalifying trial. 

TORFINO MIST hung in and trotted inside the line of a number of marker pegs passing the 400 metres.

Post race swab samples were taken from BACARDI HURRICANE.

RACE 4 – C91.3FM PACE - 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from COURAGE LIPS.

COURAGE LIPS (barrier 1) paced roughly for a short distance at the start.

COURAGE LIPS cast its offside hind plate early in the event.

Driver J Rattray (GOODDEALEHEMILY NZ) explained that coming into the home turn his mare was not balanced up and racing down the home straight he was unable to fully test his mare as she commenced to pace roughly. Mr Rattray also indicated that he will review the mare’s racing gear.

Post race swab samples were taken from EVERYBODYLOVEDRAY.

RACE 5 – CLINTONS TOYOTA CLAIMING PACE - 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from CULLEY BACKY NZ.

A PASSION FOR ACES was examined by the on course veterinary prior to and following the running of race 5 as the gelding has competed in excess of 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected in either examination.

A delay to the start of this event was required due to FOREVER TEXAS requiring a replacement headcheck.

HES OKEY DOKEY NZ was claimed following the event.

Post race swab samples were taken from CULLEY BACKY NZ and HES OKEY DOKEY NZ (claimed).

RACE 6 – 2019 MIRACLE MILE PACKAGES NOW AVAILABLE CLAIMING PACE - 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from LIVELY HERO NZ.

LIVELY HERO NZ was examined by the on course veterinary prior to and following the running of race 5 as the gelding has competed in excess of 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected in either examination.

COMPOSED was examined by the on course veterinary prior to and following the running of race 6 as the gelding has competed in excess of 200 race starts and is 12 years of age. No abnormalities were detected in either examination.

Near the 1450 metres, BLUE POINTER paced roughly momentarily and shifted out into the line of GUYS BETTOR BET.

Entering the first turn, MURRY (L Tritton) raced inside the line of DON BOSTON (J Grimson) when crossing down into the leading position. Driver L Tritton was advised to exercise greater care and to ensure she provide greater clearance in future.

OVERLAP NZ was held up in the latter stages of the home straight.

Driver L Tritton (MURRY) explained that she was instructed by the owners to drive the gelding forward and try to lead the event. Mrs Tritton added that when she was able to cross to the leading position she elected to allow MURRY to stride along under its own terms as the gelding was comfortable and didn’t want to check its momentum. Mrs Tritton further added that she considers MURRAY a tough horse and explained the stable had been confident as MURRY had been working well. Mrs Tritton stated that considering the performance in today’s event, she was disappointed in the geldings final 400 metres when not hitting the line stronger.

Stewards intend to speak with driver J Trainor (OVERLAP NZ) regarding his whip use over the concluding stages of the event. This is expected to take place at Penrith on Thursday the 10th of January 2019.

RACE 7 – ACCESS GROUP SOLUTIONS PACE - 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from POCKET OF TERROR.

MAGNUM ROSE NZ was declared a late scratching at 12:38pm due to the mare being unable to be loaded onto to the float for transport to the meeting.

HAWKOWL (barrier 1) broke gait during the score, was out of position at the start and took no competitive part in the event. In view of the gelding’s recent record, a warning was issued.

Post race swab samples were taken from FALCON STRIDE.

RACE 8 – NATIONAL TROTGUIDE PACE - 1609 metres

Pre race blood samples were taken from IM COOL HARRY NZ.

FIELD OFFICER NZ improved three wide near the 950 metres until obtaining the positon outside the leader passing the 700 metres.

Post race swab samples were taken from IM COOL HARRY NZ.
