Supplementary Report – PARKES 28TH DECEMBER 2018

RACE 3 – TAB.COM.AU ELVIS CHAMPIONSHIP HEAT 3 – 2040 metres

Stewards tonight concluded an inquiry relating to the pre and post-race condition of CORPORAL JUJON from the above race. Evidence was taken from Trainer P Schiller and Parkes Club Veterinarian Dr A Sharrock on the night of the race and recently from Driver L Primmer. It was established that, CORPORAL JUJON during training several days prior to event had knocked itself resulting in an abrasion to its nearside knee. Mr Schiller treated the abrasion at the time but no further concerns were raised with the fitness of the horse and he was of the opinion that it would not affect its ability to perform in the race. During the above race, CORPORAL JUJON contacted its knee and this has caused further damage to the abrasion, resulting in bleeding to the knee area after the race. It was noted that CORPORAL JUJON was not fitted with knee boots in the race. Mr Schiller was reminded of his obligations under Rule 30(1) to inform Stewards as soon as practicable of any injury or condition that may affect its running in a race. Stewards did not take further action as they could not be satisfied that the pre-race condition, being the abrasion to the gelding’s knee, would affect its performance in the race.
